Polyurethane Adhesive correctly, the key lies in four steps: surface treatment, ratio adjustment, application, and curing environment. These steps directly determine the bonding strength and durability.
First, ensure the surface treatment of the substrate. The bonding surface should be clean, dry, free of oil stains and dust. Smooth surfaces such as metal and plastic can be slightly roughened to enhance adhesion. Materials with excessive moisture content need to be pre-dried to avoid the influence of moisture on curing.
Second, adjust the ratio and mix the adhesive. For two-component polyurethane, strictly follow the manufacturer's ratio for weighing and mix evenly to avoid uneven drying or strength reduction. For single-component moisture-curing type, no mixing is required. Just open the lid and use it, but be sure to store it sealed.
Then, apply the adhesive. Use scraping, rolling, or spot application methods. Apply the adhesive thinly and evenly, control the thickness of the adhesive layer, as too thick a layer is prone to blistering and slow curing. After applying the adhesive, according to the product requirements, allow the solvent to evaporate appropriately, then press and apply pressure to ensure the contact surface is fully sealed without gaps or slipping.
Finally, cure and maintain. Polyurethane curing is sensitive to temperature and humidity. The suitable temperature is 20-30℃ and humidity is 40%-70%. Low temperature and low humidity will significantly slow down the curing process. After bonding, keep it fixed to avoid displacement due to force. After the initial curing, it still needs to be left to stand and maintain for a while to fully reach the strength, usually requiring more than 24 hours.
Wear protective equipment throughout the process, maintain ventilation, wipe off the uncured adhesive with a dedicated solvent in time, and do not forcibly tear it after curing. Follow the process strictly, and you can achieve stable, high-strength, and durable bonding results.
