How to Use Polyurethane Adhesives in a Standardized Manner
2026,03,18
Polyurethane adhesives have excellent performance, but if used improperly, it is difficult to achieve their best results. Standardized operation is the key to ensuring the quality of the bonding.
1.Surface treatment is fundamental. The substrate to be bonded must be clean, dry, free of oil and dust. For smooth surfaces such as metals and glass, it is recommended to perform grinding or chemical treatment to increase the roughness; for plastics, sometimes corona or flame treatment is required to enhance the surface energy.
2. Precise proportioning and mixing are of utmost importance. If using a two-component adhesive, it is essential to measure the components according to the specified weight or volume ratio as provided by the manufacturer, and thoroughly mix them to ensure complete curing and optimal performance. For single-component wet-curing products, it is important to use them as soon as they are opened and store them sealed.
3. The control of gluing and curing cannot be ignored. The amount of gluing should be uniform and moderate, avoiding insufficient glue or glue overflow. For some solvent-based products, an appropriate drying time needs to be controlled to allow the solvents to evaporate. During the curing process, the specified temperature, humidity and time must be guaranteed. For moisture-curing products, the environmental humidity is particularly sensitive. Low humidity leads to slow curing, while high humidity may cause foaming.
4. Strictly adhere to safety regulations. The operation site should be well-ventilated, and the operators should wear protective gloves and goggles. In case of accidental contact with the skin or eyes, immediately rinse with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
