Precautions for ink printing

2025,08,18
Ink printing is a process with high technical requirements, involving meticulous operations in multiple links. To ensure printing quality, the following key points need to be noted:

1. Ink selection and blending
Select the matching ink type according to the substrate (such as paper, plastic, metal, etc.). For instance, plastic printing requires the use of inks with strong adhesion, while food packaging needs to meet safety standards.

When preparing special color inks, it is necessary to strictly mix the base color inks in proportion and use a densitometer or colorimeter to test the color consistency to avoid color differences between batches.

2. Printing environment control
Temperature and humidity affect the drying speed and fluidity of ink. The ideal environment is a temperature of 20-25℃ and a humidity of 50-60%. Excessively high humidity may cause the paper to absorb moisture and deform, while too low humidity is prone to generating static electricity.

Keep the workshop clean to prevent dust from adhering to the surface of the printed materials.

3. Maintenance of printing equipment
Regularly inspect the ink rollers, rubber blankets and printing plates to ensure there is no wear or aging. The pressure of the ink roller should be uniform to avoid insufficient ink supply or ink overflow.

Calibrate the registration system of the printing press to prevent misalignment during multi-color printing.

4. Drying and curing management
Adjust the drying conditions according to the characteristics of different inks (such as UV ink and water-based ink). UV ink needs to be cured by ultraviolet light, while solvent-based ink needs to be fully evaporated.

Avoid back smudging due to insufficient drying or paper brittleness caused by excessive drying.

5. Printing process details
Control the printing speed. High speed may cause ink flying, while low speed will affect efficiency. At the same time, maintain a stable ink supply and avoid having an ink layer that is too thick or too thin.

Conduct proofing tests before printing to confirm color, registration and material compatibility.

6. Safety and environmental protection
Ink and solvents should be kept away from fire sources. The workshop should be equipped with ventilation facilities to reduce the accumulation of volatile substances.

Waste ink and cleaning agents need to be sorted and treated to comply with environmental protection regulations.

7. Post-press processing
Printed materials should be fully dried before undergoing subsequent processing such as lamination and die-cutting to prevent adhesion or damage.

When storing finished products, avoid stacking them too high to prevent pages from sticking or deforming due to pressure.

Through the above measures, the color reproduction, durability and consistency of printed materials can be effectively enhanced, while ensuring production safety and environmental compliance. In actual operation, parameters need to be flexibly adjusted in combination with the specific characteristics of the equipment and materials.
