Precautions for Using Two-Component Polyurethane Adhesive

2026,02,10
Using two-component Polyurethane Adhesive, the key lies in precise ratio, suitable environment, and standardized operation. Only by controlling the details can the bonding strength and stability be ensured, and problems such as detachment, blistering, and poor curing can be avoided.
Before mixing the ingredients, it is necessary to check the models of A and B components, and weigh them strictly according to the product specifications, with an error control within ±1%. It is strictly forbidden to arbitrarily increase or decrease the ratio. During the mixing process, it is necessary to do it at a uniform speed and fully, stirring in the same direction for 3 to 5 minutes to avoid air entrainment and bubble formation. The amount of the mixture should be adjusted according to the construction speed, and it should be used immediately after mixing to prevent premature curing of the adhesive.
The construction environment temperature is preferably 15-35℃, and the relative humidity should be controlled within 45%-70%. Low temperatures will reduce fluidity and prolong the curing time, while high temperatures are prone to causing the adhesive to deteriorate. A humid environment may lead to foaming and failure of the bonding. The surface of the substrate must be clean and dry, free of oil stains, dust, rust, and loose layers. If necessary, it should be polished or cleaned to ensure a smooth and tight bonding surface.
When applying the adhesive, the thickness should be uniform, avoiding excessive thickness in some areas or missed application. After applying the adhesive, it should be promptly adhered, and appropriate pressure should be applied to expel air to ensure that the adhesive layer is in full contact with the substrate. Before complete curing, the component should not be moved or subjected to force-bearing parts. During the curing period, it should be kept away from high temperatures, water sources, and dust.
During operation, protective measures should be taken, wearing gloves and masks to avoid contact of the adhesive with the skin and eyes. If accidental contact occurs, immediately rinse with clean water and seek medical attention. The construction site should be kept ventilated, away from fire sources, and the remaining adhesive should be sealed and stored to prevent moisture and deterioration. Strictly following the above points can not only ensure construction safety but also improve the bonding quality.
