Polyurethane ink binder

Polyurethane Ink Binder is the core component of polyurethane ink. Its core function is to evenly disperse and bond pigment particles into a film, while endowing the ink with key properties such as adhesion and weather resistance. It directly determines the printing effect and usage stability of the ink. Its description is as follows:
1. Core dispersion and load-bearing function The binder is the "carrier" of the ink. The polar groups of the polyurethane molecular chain can combine with the surface of the pigment particles, evenly wrapping and dispersing the originally loose pigments, preventing pigment agglomeration and sedimentation, ensuring uniform ink color and fineness meeting the standard. During printing, a continuous and smooth ink layer can be formed, ensuring that the pattern is clear and not blurred. This is the basis for the normal mixing and printing of the ink.
2. Core function of adhesive film formation: After printing and drying and curing, the polyurethane binder molecules cross-link to form a dense and flexible film, firmly adhering the pigment to the surface of the substrate and preventing ink layer peeling and powder shedding. It has excellent film-forming properties. After film formation, it combines toughness and strength, meeting the bending and stretching requirements of different substrates. It is especially suitable for non-polar substrates such as plastic and aluminum foil, solving the problem of poor adhesion of conventional binders.
3. Endow ink with key performance: The molecular structure of polyurethane is adjustable, enabling the binder to endow ink with multiple core properties, such as excellent adhesion and compatibility with difficult-to-bond substrates like PE, PP, and aluminum-plastic composite films. Friction and scratch resistance ensure that the printed matter is not easily worn during subsequent processing and use. Solvent resistance, acid and alkali resistance, weather resistance, enhancing the water resistance and aging resistance of printed products, and extending the shelf life. At the same time, it takes into account the adjustable gloss, meeting different printing requirements such as high gloss and matte.
4. Adjust the ink application performance: The viscosity and fluidity of the binder can be adjusted through the formula to adapt to different printing processes such as gravure printing and flexographic printing, ensuring uniform ink transfer on the printing plate, no plate clogging or ink flying during printing, controllable drying speed, suitable for high-speed printing production lines, and balancing application efficiency and printing quality.
